Spiker

Steam Trading Card

The Spiker mutant, also known as the Spike mutant or Spike-arm, is one of the Mutants in Miscreated.

Basic Info

Behavior

The Spiker mutant is commonly found wandering in any of the Locations around Orca Island.

The Spiker mutant has a relatively small aggravation range, and will attack any Players that wander too close and/or into its line of sight. Like all other Mutants, the Spiker mutant is attracted to gunfire, explosions, whistles, and movement noise.

When provoked, a Spiker mutant will continue to attack until it perishes, or kills its target. The Spiker mutant will not follow Players indefinitely - it will stop attacking and return to its roaming once the Player is out of its follow range.

Appearance

As with the Crazy mutant, the Spiker mutant retains much of its human features - with the exception of a large spike that has mutated and replaced its right forearm, hence giving the mutant its name.

Loot

Mutants have an Inventory and drop various Loot, ranging from Consumables to Clothing.

Combat

General

As with all other Mutants, the Spiker mutant attacks a Player with physical blows, using its spike-arm as Melee weapons. Every hit it lands does 10% of damage to a player's Health, with a chance of causing Bleeding to their targets.

Strategy

  • To avoid being cornered, lure mutants into open areas. This also allows for more tactical options, such as maneuvering space and retreats
  • When engaging with Firearms, always aim for the a mutant's head. All headshots come with a 10× damage multiplier, so any Mutant, with the exception of the Brute, can be killed with a single headshot with any Firearm
  • Unlike Firearms, locational damage does not apply for Melee weapons. A blow to a mutant's head does the same damage as a blow to its arms or legs, so don't bother "aiming" when attacking with a Melee weapon
  • When provoked, Mutants will let out a roar and go through a roaring animation, before turning to engage the Player that provoked it. Take advantage of this pause to land some early hits with a Melee weapon, or take aim for the head with a Firearm

Dangers

  • It is unwise to attack any Mutant unarmed. Mutants are physically stronger than Players, and thus do more damage per attack
  • As of Patch #38Mutants can now throw rocks at Players, when the latter are out of range of the former's Melee attacks

Weakness

  • A mutant's top speed is slightly lower than that of a Player on foot - they are not able to keep pace with a Player at full sprint
  • Mutants have a slow rate of attack, allowing Players to eliminate them before they can potentially do more damage
